ISO 50001:2018 is the international standard for Energy Management Systems (EnMS). It gives organisations a structured, PDCA-based framework to measure energy use, set an energy baseline, define Energy Performance Indicators (EnPIs), identify Significant Energy Uses (SEUs), and continually improve energy performance. London Cert Ltd conducts the audit directly, and your certificate is issued with genuine IAF accreditation through our accredited certification partner.
ISO 50001:2018 doesn't set a target energy-saving percentage. Instead, it requires your organisation to build a systematic process: establish an energy policy, conduct an energy review to identify Significant Energy Uses (SEUs), set an energy baseline (EnB), define Energy Performance Indicators (EnPIs), set improvement objectives, implement operational controls, and continually check performance against your own baseline through internal audit and management review.
Like ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, ISO 50001 uses the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle and the same Harmonized Structure — so if you already hold either of those certifications, adding ISO 50001 as an Integrated Management System (IMS) is significantly faster and cheaper than certifying it standalone.
💡 DOE analysis in the US and similar international studies show organisations implementing ISO 50001-based energy management typically achieve energy performance improvements averaging 4–4.5% annually, with savings that compound and persist over time rather than being one-off.
For over a decade, India's Perform, Achieve and Trade (PAT) scheme — administered by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) — set mandatory energy-intensity targets for 1,000+ entities across 13 energy-intensive sectors. From FY2026, seven of these sectors (aluminium, cement, chlor-alkali, pulp and paper, petroleum refining, petrochemicals, and textiles) have formally transitioned to India's new Carbon Credit Trading Scheme (CCTS) — a mandatory GHG emissions-intensity trading mechanism, still administered by BEE, but now measuring carbon output rather than just energy consumption.
Legally binding targets: Around 490 entities across the transitioned sectors now hold legally binding GHG emissions-intensity targets for FY2026 and FY2027, based on an FY2024 baseline.
First compliance deadline: Obligated entities must submit verified emissions reports for FY2025–26 by 31 July 2026.
Real financial stakes: Entities that exceed their target must purchase Carbon Credit Certificates (CCCs); entities that beat their target can sell surplus CCCs on power exchanges under CERC oversight. Non-surrender penalties can run to twice the average CCC market price.
CCTS's own Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) framework is aligning with ISO 14064 methodology rather than ISO 50001 directly — so ISO 50001 doesn't substitute for CCTS reporting. What it does give you is the underlying energy baseline, metering, and data-governance discipline that made PAT's ESCert reporting possible for over a decade, and which now makes accurate CCTS emissions reporting realistic rather than a scramble every compliance cycle. If your facility is transitioning from PAT to CCTS, an existing or new ISO 50001 EnMS is the fastest route to audit-ready data.
Critical: Only certificates issued by IAF-accredited bodies are genuinely valid for GeM, CPPP, and international procurement. India has thousands of fraudulent ISO bodies selling unaccredited certificates that are regularly rejected by compliance teams. London Cert is IAF-accredited — every ISO 50001:2018 certificate we issue is verifiable at verify.londoncert.co.uk.
Energy-intensive manufacturers in cement, steel, aluminium, chemicals, textiles, and pulp & paper — especially entities obligated under BEE's PAT/CCTS framework
Commercial buildings, data centres, and hospitality operators seeking energy cost reduction and green building credentials
Exporters to the EU, where the recast Energy Efficiency Directive (EED) now requires large energy consumers (over 85 TJ/year) to operate a certified energy management system
UK-based organisations using ISO 50001 certification to simplify ESOS (Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme) compliance
Any business seeking a credible, audited alternative to self-reported energy and carbon claims for ESG disclosures

Fixed-price, all-inclusive packages. No hidden fees. No surprise invoices. The price you're quoted is the price you pay.
Why we don't publish exact prices: ISO 50001:2018 Certification certification cost depends on your specific company size, number of locations, number of employees, industry, and documentation complexity. A fixed published price would either overcharge small businesses or undercharge complex ones. Contact us for a personalised, binding quote within 24 hours — specific to your business.
More employees = more audit time. Audit duration is directly tied to your employee count and the scope of operations being certified.
Each additional location may require separate or extended audit time. Multi-site certifications are priced accordingly — contact us to discuss.
Simple service businesses have fewer process documents than complex manufacturing operations. Documentation scope directly affects cost.
If you already have some quality management processes documented, less preparation work is needed — which can reduce the overall cost.
Remote audits are available for all businesses and are typically more cost-effective. On-site audits are available for clients who need or prefer physical presence.
Most certification companies require you to hire a separate consultant to prepare documentation — and then pay the certification company for the audit on top. London Cert does both. This integrated approach saves time and significantly reduces total cost.
