ISO 45001:2018 is the international standard for Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (OHS MS). It replaced OHSAS 18001:2007 and provides a framework for organisations to proactively prevent work-related injury and illness, reduce OHS risks, and comply with legal health and safety requirements. London Cert Ltd conducts the audit directly, and your certificate is issued with genuine IAF accreditation through our accredited certification partner after a two-stage audit process. The certificate is valid for 3 years and required for most infrastructure, construction, and industrial tenders globally.
ISO 45001:2018 is published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and specifies requirements for an Occupational Health and Safety Management System. It enables organisations to provide safe and healthy workplaces, prevent work-related injury and illness, and continually improve OHS performance.
ISO 45001 replaced OHSAS 18001:2007 and introduced a significantly strengthened framework including top management leadership requirements, worker participation, and risk-based thinking that wasn't present in OHSAS 18001. All OHSAS 18001 certificates were withdrawn when the standard was officially retired in March 2021.
⚠ OHSAS 18001 is no longer valid. If your company has an OHSAS 18001 certificate issued after March 2021, or if a body is still offering OHSAS 18001 certification, this is a fraudulent certificate. Only ISO 45001:2018 is the current, internationally valid OHS standard. Contact London Cert to transition or apply fresh.
OHSAS 18001 was a British Standards Institution (BSI) document, not a true ISO standard. ISO 45001 was developed by ISO Technical Committee TC 283 specifically to:
Align with other ISO standards using the common High Level Structure (HLS)
Strengthen top management leadership and accountability for OHS
Introduce formal worker participation and consultation requirements
Implement proactive risk-based thinking rather than reactive hazard management
Address the context of the organisation including supply chains and contractors
Enable integration with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 in a single IMS
Critical: Only certificates issued by IAF-accredited bodies are genuinely valid for GeM, CPPP, and international procurement. India has thousands of fraudulent ISO bodies selling unaccredited certificates that are regularly rejected by compliance teams. London Cert is IAF-accredited — every ISO 45001:2018 certificate we issue is verifiable at verify.londoncert.co.uk.

💡 ISO 45001 is most commonly combined with ISO 9001 (Quality) and ISO 14001 (Environmental) in an Integrated Management System (IMS). London Cert can certify all three in a single, more cost-effective audit process — saving 20–30% vs three separate audits.
India's Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020 came into force on 21 November 2025, alongside three other labour codes, replacing 29 separate central labour laws. The Central Government notified the final OSH Rules, 2026 on 8 May 2026, and state-level rules are still being finalised through 2026 — so requirements are tightening in real time, not settling.
Two provisions matter directly if you're building or maintaining an OHS management system:
Mandatory Safety Officers: Establishments with 500+ workers must appoint a dedicated Safety Officer.
Mandatory Safety Committees: Establishments with 250+ workers must maintain a formal safety committee.
Annual health check-ups: free annual health check-ups are now mandated for workers, with enhanced provisions for workers in hazardous sectors.
National OSH Advisory Board: a new central board is being set up to standardise workplace safety expectations across sectors.
ISO 45001 doesn't replace your legal OSH Code obligations, but its structure — hazard registers, worker consultation, documented risk assessments, management review — is the fastest way to demonstrate compliance-readiness for these exact requirements. If your establishment crosses the 250 or 500-worker thresholds, treat this as a trigger to formalise your OHS system now rather than wait for a labour inspection to force it.
No. ISO 45001's revision is still in the Committee Draft / Draft International Standard stage under ISO Technical Committee 283, with formal publication expected in 2027 — a year later than the ISO 14001:2026 and ISO 9001:2026 revisions. Early drafts point toward expanded coverage of psychosocial hazards and mental wellbeing, inclusivity and diverse worker needs, and climate-emergency readiness planning, alongside closer alignment with ISO's Harmonized Structure. None of this is finalised, and certifying to ISO 45001:2018 today gives you a valid certificate now, with a transition window (typically 3 years, consistent with the ISO 14001 and 9001 revisions) once 2027's edition eventually publishes. London Cert Ltd tracks the TC 283 committee's timeline and will contact certified clients directly when transition guidance becomes available.

Fixed-price, all-inclusive packages. No hidden fees. No surprise invoices. The price you're quoted is the price you pay.
Why we don't publish exact prices: ISO 45001:2018 Certification certification cost depends on your specific company size, number of locations, number of employees, industry, and documentation complexity. A fixed published price would either overcharge small businesses or undercharge complex ones. Contact us for a personalised, binding quote within 24 hours — specific to your business.
More employees = more audit time. Audit duration is directly tied to your employee count and the scope of operations being certified.
Each additional location may require separate or extended audit time. Multi-site certifications are priced accordingly — contact us to discuss.
Simple service businesses have fewer process documents than complex manufacturing operations. Documentation scope directly affects cost.
If you already have some quality management processes documented, less preparation work is needed — which can reduce the overall cost.
Remote audits are available for all businesses and are typically more cost-effective. On-site audits are available for clients who need or prefer physical presence.
Most certification companies require you to hire a separate consultant to prepare documentation — and then pay the certification company for the audit on top. London Cert does both. This integrated approach saves time and significantly reduces total cost.
